Edit to add.. this keeps happening and is still freaking me out. Still only in the mornings, I never experience this in the afternoons/evenings
Before anyone comes at me.. I realize this is the EXACT reason why home fetal Dopplers are frowned upon. But…. I have been using one every other day since 14ish weeks just to hear a quick heart beat and move on with my day… however on two separate occasions, it seems like the baby’s heartbeat is beating like normal but then stalls and drops pretty low, but comes back up. This has only happened in the mornings.. (2 times). Anyone have any advice? Anatomy scan is on the 26th of this month.

it's because baby is moving and it's prob getting your artery when baby moves

@-mommax4-,
I would reach out to your OB. It’s a valid concern to have

I also have fetal doppler and I don’t pay attention to the number at all. I rather listen for the “speed.” I’ve found my heartbeat and all kinds of other heartbeat sounds. Sometimes my LO stays put long enough to pick it up and then they move and it sounds more muted or I lose it completely.
You should definitely bring it up with your obgyn if you feel concerned, though!

how low? Could be your heartbeat! When I use the Doppler the heartbeat comes in and out, I just assume the baby is moving, the numbers when I'm not getting a clear read are all over the place.

@Kykyxoxo,
it drops into the 80s/90s .. but what’s so weird is this never happens other than the morning time! I have my anatomy scan tomorrow so I’m definitely going to bring it up. Thanks!

This happened during a prenatal appointment when my doctor was doing the Doppler on me when I was pregnant with my daughter in 2020. She did an NST to make sure all was well and I was of course in tears with worry. It was nothing! Definitely bring it up so they can give you peace of mind too. She called it a fetal heart deceleration

@maybeAugust,
thanks for telling me.. it really does have me worried. I messaged my ob about it but of course got dismissed pretty much.. so tomorrow during my anatomy scan I’m definitely going to bring it up again. Thanks!

It’s probably the baby moving. I have an at home Doppler and depending on baby’s position it can take a while to get a clear heartbeat. At my OB’s office it even took them a while to get a good angle. If the baby moves it will also mess with the numbers and then you essentially have to start again. Unless you get a good angle and the baby isn’t moving, your numbers could fluctuate a lot while trying to find the heartbeat. Your baby is likely just active in the morning which I is why it happens at the same time.

I assume when it’s 80-90, it’s getting confused by our heart rate. I had the exact heart rate until after 16 weeks for some reason…I had my scan yesterday and his heart rate is perfect - 150. So, I didn’t worry about the Doppler and so far so good
