An international competition for junior league hockey teams is being held in Los Angeles. Coach Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez) is picked to lead Team U.S.A. He reunites the "Mighty Ducks," the teen misfits he once coached to victory. This time, crass sports promoter Tibbles (Michael Tucker) tempts the Ducks to cash in on their fame in lieu of practicing, but the team eventually gets back into training and takes on Iceland and their violence-prone coach, Wolf Stansson (Carsten Norgaard).

Dale R The Ducks return, this time vying for a Junior Olympic gold. There is some really good set up in this movie, but the payoffs don’t all work. Emilio Estevez returns as Gordon Bombay and his main plot line is to not let fame go to his head and stay true to himself. He of course gets off track, but when he realizes his mistake the main antagonist who drove him off track is perfectly O.K. with the change. There are other examples of lazy writing that makes this attempt at recapturing the original movie not work. There are some enjoyable moments and a few laughs, but not enough to recommend this movie unless you liked the original Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review william s As a kid, I actually watched/enjoyed this film more than the original Mighty Ducks. This wasn't a unique phenomenon, Home Alone 2 also comes to mind. But, unlike Home Alone 2, I haven't made the complete flip over to the original. There's something about this film—the new characters, the setting, the Iceland team, etc.—that just works slightly more for me. Also, as the cast got older and probably practiced more, I feel like the hockey itself just looks better .... All in all, I know this is just a goofy family friendly sports movie. But, as a 90s kid growing up in Minnesota, this movie will always have a place in my heart.
